CBD, which stands for cannabidiol, is one of over 130 known substances called cannabinoids, a group of chemicals that includes the familiar THC.
These substances are found naturally in both hemp and marijuana (phytocannabinoids). However, while THC is psychoactive, or gets you “high”, CBD does not. CBD has a calming, relaxing effect on the body and mind, but without any of the mind-altering effects of THC. So, in other words, CBD provides relaxation without intoxication. And CBD, especially when applied topically, has strong anti-inflammatory effects.
What many people don’t know is that cannabinoids are produced naturally in the body (endocannabinoids) and that there are natural receptors in the body for these substances, known as CB-1 and CB-2. Together they make up a vast network called the endocannabinoid system (ECS), which is concentrated largely in the central nervous system (CNS), but extends throughout the body, including receptors in most of the internal organs as well as in the immune system. CBD interacts with both CB-1 and CB-2, with slightly different effects for each, but basically it tells the ECS to do more of what it naturally does, which is to help regulate many systems in the body.
While scientific research is still catching up with all of the observed benefits of CBD, there is strong evidence that it may help with many ailments, including pain and inflammation, muscle spasms, seizures, acne and even cancer. It is also known to be useful for mood stabilization, anxiety, improving sleep quality and generally promoting homeostasis within the body. CBD is also a potent antioxidant, stronger than vitamins C or E.
Nano means small…really small. Nano technology is a method of reducing the particle size of a substance to nanometer (NM) size, generally much smaller than its naturally occurring state. With CBD’s, or most other ingested substances, the smaller the particle size, the more easily it enters the cells of the body. In other words, it is more bioavailable.
With normal CBD, in its unenhanced state, it is estimated that only about 10% of the dose is actually absorbed into the cells, with the rest passing through and excreted unused.
When the particles are nano-sized, there is a 6 to 10-fold increase in bioavailability, so absorption can actually be as high as 90%-100%. The result is that a much smaller dose can achieve the desired effect and do so more rapidly.
Our CBD is extracted from organically grown, Non-GMO hemp and purified using the most safe and effective processes without adding any chemicals such as emulsifiers or solvents. It is then nano-sized and encapsulated in either pure water globules for a water-soluble product, or in lipids to form liposomes. This process is called nano-emulsification and acts to stabilize the nano particles and deliver them to the cells where they can be quickly and easily absorbed. This serves to maximize bioavailability.
